"Look at this photograph, everytime I do, it makes me laugh" - A year in review!

Check out some of my favorite memories of junior year. I chose a picture from each month of school. I could have put a million pictures on, but these are the ones that made the cut!

June - Hanging out downtown with summer work friends at "8 Great Tuesdays" a free concert series throughout the summer!
July - Welcoming the freshmen to Mercyhurst with the Laker Leaders at summer orientation!
August - Hanging out at Presque Isle, watching one of Erie's beautiful sunsets and relaxing before the school year begins!
September - Back to school, enjoying an evening with friends and roommates in Garvey Park for the annual Fall Ball!
October - celebrating my 21st birthday with friends!
November - Hanging out in the townhouse, acting crazy, procrastinating...but still getting everything done!
December - Celebrating Christmas with the Ambassador club and sporting an "ugly sweater" for the ugly sweater competition!
January - Cheering on the Lakers at a Mercyhurst vs. Gannon game and meeting and mingling with Mercyhurst alumni!
February - Hanging out with friends, taking a midnight study break to go to Mighty Fine doughnuts!
March - getting inducted as Ambassador Club President for my senior year - one of my favorite accomplishments of the year!
April - Winning an award for my research paper with fellow researchers in Washington D.C.
May- Celebrating the end of the year at Springfest. A concert with The Plain White T's and a carnival/luau- a great way to kick off summer!

Wow did junior year go back quickly! I am truly blessed with the greatest of friends, the smartest of teachers, and the best of times!

Picture of the Week - Commencement

Here's myself, Kaleigh and Rhona before the ceremony started at the Tullio Arena in downtown Erie.

To the right is a photo of the entire center. The graduates and faculty members are on the floor, surrounded by friends and family in the stands!

Junior Year is Over - - How Can this be True!?

Now that I am finished with finals and a very long but exciting graduation weekend, I can sit back and reflect on the end of the term!

Finals week went really well! I did a lot of studying! I was so focused on studying that I didn't really have time to do much of anything else. I planned my finals week out perfectly so that each class was allotted enough study time. In the end it really paid off because I finished the term with a 4.0 and a 3.95 for the entire school year!
As I finished up my last final, I literally could not believe that I had just completed three full years of college. I immediately texted my mom and dad saying "holy crap I'm a senior in college!" this was pretty much the way that I felt and the best way I could describe it! I am a little overwhelmed because I really do not want to be a senior because that means I am one step closer to leaving the 'Hurst. For me, being a senior will just give me even more of a reason to follow Mercyhurst's motto of "Carpe Diem" - Seize the Day!

This past weekend was graduation weekend! Congratulations to all of the seniors on your wonderful accomplishments! Graduation weekend was filled with so many fun events - I was able to participate in a few because the Ambassadors worked at all of them. On Friday we were greeters for the awards dinner, Saturday was the adult and graduate graduation followed by an alumni reception and the ROTC ceremony. Finally, Sunday was the end with graduation day. We were lucky to have such beautiful weather that allowed for our graduates to have a sunny walk from the Avalon Hotel to the Tullio Arena in downtown Erie for the ceremony.

Now that school is over and so is graduation, I have a few days filled with relaxation before my summer job starts up! Until then - Carpe Diem!

The Unveiling of the 'Hurst Book

Many of my posts have discussed a club that I am involved in which is the Student Alumni Association. Since October, a small group of us that makes up the original SAA at Mercyhurst has been working on creating the 'Hurst book. The 'Hurst book is a book that the Alumni department will sponsor to be given to all incoming freshmen. Inside of it we have information on basically everything available at Mercyhurst, including a bit of history and traditions, which we hold in high esteem here! My favorite part of the book is a "bucket list" which lists different annual events that we have here at Mercyhurst that we as a group believe students MUST DO before graduating.
SAA members and all alumni who attended the event!

Here's some of the pages on display

The layout of the pages offer a picture and a description along with a space for students to place their own pictures. When they complete it, they will first and foremost lived through the Mercyhurst experience and they will also have a keepsake and a scrapbook that they can save after they graduate as they become Mercyhurst alumni.
This past week we had a ceremony in the student union and we were so happy that a lot of people from the school showed up to see different pieces of the 'Hurst book that our advisor had printed and blown up on larger sheets of paper to be displayed. I can't wait to see the final, printed copy and I look forward to seeing the freshmen get a copy of it!!

The seniors! We will miss them :(
